Posted by AdrianDrury on

Introduction
MECHREVO is a gaming laptop brand launched in 2014. Its product supply chain draws from global manufacturers specializing in gaming hardware, peripherals, and complete PC systems, and the brand is committed to providing gaming enthusiasts with high-spec, high-performance gaming laptops.

Recently, ChargerLab obtained a power adapter that comes standard with MECHREVO gaming laptops. To ensure the device runs at full capacity, the power adapter delivers 280W of power. The nameplate also indicates that this is a silicon carbide (SiC) power adapter. Below, ChargerLab will teardown this MECHREVO power adapter to examine its specific design.

Appearance of the Mechanical Revolution 280W Silicon Carbide Power Adapter

The Mechanical Revolution 280W Silicon Carbide Power Adapter features a classic black color scheme and an elongated rectangular design. The detachable power cord on the input side makes it easy for users to replace, and it also comes with a built-in DC output cable.

The device has a long, flat body. The casing is made of flame-retardant PC+ABS material, with a matte finish that resists fingerprints, and the edges are designed to prevent discomfort when held.

The MECHREVO logo is featured at the center of the top surface of the device, with the letters finished in a glossy, contrasting color.

A power adapter label is affixed to the bottom.

Close-up of the Power Adapter Nameplate:

Model: TFHK-SiC02-280W-CN
Input: 100–240 V AC, 50–60 Hz, 4.0 A
Output: 20 V, 14 A
Distributor: Tongfang Co., Ltd.
Manufacturer: Beijing Hekei Aneng Technology Co., Ltd.
Producer: Hangzhou Borui Electronics Technology Co., Ltd.
The power adapter has passed CCC certification and Class VI energy efficiency certification

One end of the unit features a triangular array of input sockets, with a modular design.

The output cable at the other end has been treated to protect against bending, and the cable is equipped with dual shielding ferrite rings to ensure better power delivery.

The DC terminal features an angled design, making it easy to use in tight spaces.

The Mechanical Revolution 280W silicon carbide power adapter weighs approximately 655g.

ChargerLab Teardown Summary
The Mechanical Revolution 280W SiC power adapter features a classic design. Its detachable body and power cord allow users to easily swap out the cable for the appropriate specification when traveling to different regions. The built-in angled DC cable design facilitates use in tight spaces, while dual shielded ferrite cores ensure optimal output. The power adapter supports a wide input voltage range of 100–240V and has passed CCC certification as well as VI-level energy efficiency certification.

Through teardown analysis, ChargerLab found that, as a high-power laptop power adapter, the internal PCBA module utilizes large thermal pads and heat sinks for cooling. The core heat-generating components are also equipped with dedicated heat sinks, ensuring the power adapter can operate at high power for extended periods. The teardown revealed that the information on the core components had been sanded off, making it impossible to determine the specific design. However, it can be concluded that the power supply employs the currently mainstream PFC+LLC power architecture and indeed uses a WM2A060065N silicon carbide switch from Guojin Southern, which is advertised as reliable.
